KO. Fine art print 110X80 © GIL PLANTE 2020
A simple line, a composition, and the impetus is given… then the technique takes over enhances the image.
Gil Plante is not a photographer in the traditional sense of the word.
His technique is rather like that of a painter.
He masters his camera’s variables the way a painter chooses a specific brush to determine the breadth and power of a brushstroke. This original creative approach is about much more than merely taking a picture, it is about composing an image.
“I quiet like the idea that my camera, at the moment of the click, captures my work to projects it into another dimension. Then the machine takes over and I know that at that moment my work does not belong to me anymore...
I’d also like to make clear that my work is not retouched in any way.
I have no interest in devices of that sort ! ”
